PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel woven fabric which is used for reinforcing rubber articles, stabilizes the thrusting property of a reinforcing material composed of steel, is excellent in dimensional stability, and can achieve higher rigidity than that of a conventional steel woven fabric, in the obtained rubber articles. SOLUTION: This steel plain woven fabric is used for reinforcing rubber articles and obtained by alternately weaving warps 1 and wefts 2. The warp 1 includes a steel wire material having a wire diameter of 0.15 to 0.38 mm or steel cords obtained by twisting two or more steel wire materials, and the weft 2 includes a steel wire material having a wire diameter of 0.08-0.18 mm, or the warp 1 includes flat steel wires satisfying: W/T≥2 and 0.15≤T≤0.38 mm, wherein W is the width of the warp 1, and T is the thickness of the warp, and the weft 2 includes a steel wire material having a wire diameter of 0.08-0.18 mm.
