An organic light emitting device and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to form first and second spacers at the same time when patterning an opening unit or a contact hole on an insulating layer or a passivation layer. An organic light emitting device includes a first substrate(300), signal lines, a driving transistor, a second substrate(350), a first electrode(355), a pixel defining layer(360), an organic light emitting layer(370), and first and second connection electrodes(380a,380b). The signal lines are formed on the first substrate and include a scan line, a data line, a first power line(310a), and a second power line(310c). The driving transistor is formed on the first substrate and has a gate electrode(310b), at least one insulating film layer(315), a semiconductor layer, a source electrode(325b), and a drain electrode(325c). The second substrate faces the first electrode. The first electrode is formed on the second substrate. The pixel defining layer is formed on the first electrode and has first and second spacers(365c,365d) patterned in the same process as a first contact hole(365a) and an opening unit(365b). The organic light emitting layer is formed inside the opening unit. The first connection electrode is formed on the first spacer to be connected to the first electrode. The second connection electrode is formed on the second spacer and the organic light emitting layer. |
