<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform positive, negative variance pre-equalization even without holding an amount of data beforehand by switching a control point of optical phase adjustment in response to a code of a pre-equalized variance amount. <P>SOLUTION: A variance pre-equalization optical transmitter comprises a variance pre-equalization data generating means 17 to which transmission source data stream is input and which performs inverse function operation on a wavelength variance of a transmission line on which the transmission source data stream is transmitted, and outputs resultant data of two streams as a driving signal; MZ type optical modulation units 12a, 12b which use the driving signal output from the variance pre-equalization data generating means 17 to generate first and second photo-electric fields which are orthogonal with each other, from branched light input from a light source 10 via a light branching means 11, and an optical phase adjustment unit 13 which controls a relative phase difference between the first and the second photo-electric fields by shifting phases just by a set shift amount, wherein a setting value of the shift amount in the optical phase adjustment unit 13 is switched, thereby varying the code of the variance pre-equalization amount. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
