<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable communication terminal which responds to a radio notifying signal or a radio connection requesting signal from a main station in an optimal intermittent reception cycle based on an actual remaining battery life even when the portable communication terminal instantaneously consumes a large amount of power with performance other than radio communication, and a battery volume level temporarily drops. <P>SOLUTION: The portable communication terminal 1 receives and responds to the radio notifying signal from a radio LAN access point 52 in an intermittent cycle. The volume and the consumption current of a rechargeable battery 13 mounted on the portable communication terminal 1 are detected at a battery volume detection part 33 and a battery consumption current detection part 36, respectively.
