PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bulb planting machine for garlic or the like solving the problem that, the case except for handwork raises a drawback as not to ensure the bulbs of garlic or the like to be planted with both the vertical and transverse directions of each of the bulbs secured, leading to their uneven growth. SOLUTION: The bulb planting machine for garlic or the like comprises such a planting machine main body P as to be equipped with a mechanism functioning to intermittently move around a frame 7 a plurality of holder units each composed of a planting holder 1 and a forcing element 4 and have a forcing mechanism enabling the holder units U to be pressed against the ground, a traveling wheel Q and a traveling handle H. With the planting holders 1 stopped by turning upward, bulbs of garlic or the like are loaded and held, and the bulbs, with the holders 1 facing on the ground, are planted into a predetermined depth under the ground by the forcing mechanism while maintaining both the vertical and transverse directions of the bulbs.
