The present invention is applied to data transmission that makes use of a transmitting system in which a predetermined bit unit video data are synchronized with a pixel clock signal and pixel unit data are transmitted from a source side device to a synchronizing side device. Further, at least a part of a transmission line between the source side device and the synchronizing side device is made wireless. The synchronizing side device stores information with respect to its own video display capability or reproduction capability. Either the source side device or the synchronizing side device judges a video data transmission speed or transmission rate. When the source side device reads out the information with respect to the video display capability or reproduction capability stored at the synchronizing side device, the source side device is set to modify the stored information on the basis of the judged transmission speed or transmission rate. With this, an HDMI standard transmission line is made wireless, so that video data can be well transmitted.
