PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for inspecting a capillary array sheet capable of detecting a defect of the gel in a through hole of the capillary array sheet certainly at high speed. SOLUTION: The capillary array sheet inspection device 10 inspects a gel defect of the capillary array sheet 1 having the through hole filled with gel. The inspection device 10 comprises an illumination device 14 having a light source 12, a lattice pattern 24 irradiated with illumination light from the light source, a capillary array sheet holding means 26 for holding the capillary array sheet so that the light having passed the lattice pattern comes into the through hole filled with the gel, an imaging means 16 for picking up an image of the lattice pattern bonded by gel filled into the through holes of the capillary array sheet, and an image formation range restricting means 22 for restricting the range of the image of the lattice pattern by the imaging means.
