The method involves defining a parameter to start a connection e.g. digital subscriber line (5), of an access platform (3) associated with an access computer i.e. network access server (2). Instructions are allowed to cause a change of defined parameter, which is supplied over an internet from a server to the access platform. The instructions are converted into other instructions according to a protocol provided for the access computer, and are supplied to the access computer. Authentication of sender of data is performed by the access platform. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for activating parameters during connection of a participant with an Internet over an access computer (2) an arrangement for changing and/or activating parameters during connection of a participant with an Internet over an access compute.
