DIGITAL BROADCASTING SYSTEM AND DATA PROCESSING METHOD

A digital broadcast system and a data processing method are provided to generate a reliability map and perform error correction encoding on received data based on the reliability map to thus increase an error correction capability of the received enhanced data. First to third enhanced data are inputted to first to third randomizers(101a~101c) and randomized. First to third RS frame encoders(102a~102c) receive the randomized enhanced data, form RS frames by collecting bytes of the plurality of inputted enhanced data, and perform an error correction encoding by RS frames. An RS frame multiplexer(103) multiplexes the enhanced data outputted from the first to third RS frame encoders and outputs the same to an E-VSB(Enhanced-Vestigial SideBand) block processing unit. The E-VSB block processing unit encodes the encoded interleaved enhanced data at a G/H coding rate and outputs the same to a group formatter(105). The group formatter inserts the enhanced data into a corresponding region of a data group formed according to a predefined rule, and also inserts various position holders or known data to a corresponding region of the data group. The output of the group formatter is inputted to a data deinterleaver(106). The data deinterleaver deinterleaves the data and the position holders of the data group in a reverse process of interleaving, and outputs the same to a packet formatter(107). The packet formatter removes a main data position holder, an RS parity position holder of the deinterleaved and inputted data, collects the remaining portions, and inserts an MPEG header into a 4-byte MPEG header position holder. The packet formatter classifies the packet-formatted data of the data group as enhanced data packets of 188 bytes and provides them to a packet multiplexer(121).
