<p>An alignment layer, and a liquid crystal display(LCD) device containing the alignment layer are provided to increase the view angle of an LCD device and to obtain optical alignment more simply. An alignment layer comprises a second polyimide compound which comprises a discotic liquid crystal compound showing light alignment, and a first polyimide compound having an azo group and showing an optical anisotropicity. Preferably the discotic liquid crystal compound is represented by the formula 2; and the first polyimide compound is represented by the formula 1.</p> |
