METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR GENERATING LICENSE

A method and a device for generating licenses are provided to protect contents according to a device or domain bind in a DRM(Digital Rights Management) system by generating the license for the device bind or the license for the domain bind. A receiver(101) receives streams through various broadcasting channels. A detector(102) detects a contents file from the received stream, and detects contents and UCI(Usage Constraint Information) for the contents from the detected contents file. A usage bind determiner(103) determines usage bind of the detected contents based on the UCI according to a rule of a DRM system. A usage control information determiner(104) determines contents control information of the detected contents based on the detected UCI according to the rule of the DRM system. An electronic signature part(108) electronically signs the UCI and a usage rule, which is determined by a usage rule determiner(105), according to the rule of the DRM system. A license generator(109) generates a license including a contents ID, a contents key, and the electronically signed UCI and usage rule. A contents file generator(110) creates contents files, which follows the usage rule determined by usage rule determiner, according to the rule of the DDM system.
