A method for preparing a solid titanium catalyst for the polymerization of olefins is provided to improve the stereoregularity, catalytic activity and hydrogen reactivity of a catalyst and to wide the distribution of molecular weight of the polymer prepared by the catalyst. A method for preparing a solid titanium catalyst for the polymerization of olefins comprises the steps of dissolving a magnesium halide in an oxygen-containing solvent comprising a cyclic ether and at least one alcohol compound to obtain a magnesium compound solution; reacting the magnesium compound solution with a titanium halide, increasing temperature or maturing it to obtain particles, and secondly reacting it with a titanium halide to prepare a support; reacting the support with a titanium halide and an electron donator comprising a dialkyl phthalate having a C9-C13 alkyl group and an alkyl carboxylate having a C1-C8 alkyl group to prepare a catalyst; and washing the catalyst with a hydrocarbon solvent at 40-200 deg.C.
