The method involves regenerating symbols of coding samples from a corrected sensor e.g. magnetic field sensor (9), signal using a threshold value detector for obtaining an output signal. Filtered signals are produced using filters with a set of filter coefficients from the output signal. The sensor signal is overlayed with the filtered signals for obtaining the corrected sensor signal, and a transmission parameter is estimated from the corrected sensor signal and the output signal. The filter coefficients are derived from the estimated transmission parameter. An independent claim is also included for a device for evaluating a sensor signal.
