PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus capable of reducing cost and saving an occupied space and also capable of avoiding reduction or variation in the light quantity of a light source due to the temperature rising of the light source or trouble caused by the temperature rising of members disposed near a reading position. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus is provided with a document move reading mode during which a document image is read while illuminating the image of the document with a light source and feeding the document so as to pass a predetermined reading position at a fixed speed in a state where a scan optical system reading the image of the document at the reading position. In the image reading apparatus, a reading apparatus case comprises a heat conduction member which transports heat of a scan unit including the light source to the reading apparatus case in contact with the scan unit including the light source stopped at the reading position during the document move reading mode.
