An optical scanning element is provided with a first member (8), which has a mirror section (2) having a reflection surface, a mirror supporting section (3a) connected to the mirror section (2), a frame section (4) connected to the mirror supporting section (3a) and makes the mirror supporting section (3a) generate torsional displacement by oscillation; a second member (11) for fixing and holding the frame section (4) of the first member (8); and a piezoelectric body (12a) firmly adhered to the frame section (4) for transmitting oscillation to the frame section (4). The frame section (4) is provided with a beam section (5a) and fixing sections (6a, 6b) positioned at the both ends of the beam section (5a). The mirror supporting section (3a) is connected at a connecting point (Qa) of the beam section (5a), and the piezoelectric body (12a) is firmly adhered over the beam section (5a) and the fixing section (6a), by being extended from the fixing section (6a) toward the connecting point (Qa) of the beam section (5a) to a position not over the connecting point (Qa). Thus, a scanning angle is increased by increasing the swinging angle of the mirror section.
