摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bit map formation method for forming multivalued character data where one dot is represented by a gray level which can be processed by a print engine by applying binary character data in which the character is facing sideways and inverted laterally, and to provide a printer, an integrated circuit and a bit map formation apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The least common multiple of the number of bits in the direction intersecting the reading direction perpendicularly and "8" is calculated (S2). Lateral inversion processing is performed on binary character data (S3). Vertical/horizontal conversion processing and expansion processing are performed on the character data (S4). In the expansion processing, one bit value representing one dot is converted into a two bit gray level which can be processed by a print engine and expanded to the number of bits equal to the least common multiple. In this regard, "0" meaning no record is converted into "00" also meaning no record, and "1" meaning record is converted into "11" meaning record with a large dot. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
