702,803. Draught excluders. MORRIS MOTORS, Ltd. Nov. 24, 1952 [Dec. 14, 1951], No. 29299/51. Class 20 (3) A draught excluder for sealing doors, particularly the doors of motor vehicles, has a sealing strip 1 of sponge rubber encased in a thin rubber skin which is bonded, during the curing process, to a U-shaped rubber attachment strip 2, a hingelike connection being formed between the two strips to permit displacement, as well as deformation, of the strip, when the door is closed. The strip 2 is secured to a supporting flange 13 by means of a series of clips 9 each of which has barbs 12 for engaging the flange 13 and an offset limb 8 adapted to pass through one of a series of slots 7 in one limb of the strip 2, barbs 11 in the limb 8 engaging the attachment strip 2. After the clips 9 have been fitted within the attachment strip the latter is covered with an adhesive fabric covering 14. In an alternative construction for the spring clip, a central tongue, stamped from the offset limb, is arranged to extend along the inner face of the attachment strip 2. In a modification the slots 7 from the respective limb of the attachment strip are omitted, the limb being thickened and provided with a recess to receive the limbs of the clips which in this case have no offset portion and are provided with barbs. Alternatively clips of double channel form may be used. Specification 680,973 is referred to.
|
