A peripheral device, a method of recognizing a peripheral device and a recording medium storing a peripheral device recognition program are provided to virtually connect even a peripheral device which is not actually connected to a computer system and allow the computer system to recognize the peripheral device. A virtual peripheral device corresponding to an actual peripheral device includes an attribute information storage unit and a connection response unit. The attribute information storage unit stores attribute information of peripheral devices connectable to a computer system. The connection response unit responds to a peripheral device connection confirmation request of the computer system as a peripheral device actually connected to the computer system according to the attribute information stored in the attribute information storage unit.
