METHOD FOR PREPARING CYCLIC OLEFIN POLYMERS WITH A POLAR FUNCTIONAL GROUP AND CYCLIC OLEFIN POLYMERS PREPARED BY THE METHOD

A method for preparing cyclic olefin polymers is provided to separate the spherical cyclic olefin polymers having high bulk density from a cyclic olefin polymer solution containing cyclic olefins having at least one polar functional group by adding a nonsolvent to the cyclic olefin polymer solution twice. A method for preparing cyclic olefin polymers includes the steps of: (a) polymerizing at least one cyclic olefin monomer, or at least one cyclic olefin monomer and ethylene to prepare a cyclic olefin polymer solution; (b) adding a ketone-based nonsolvent to the cyclic olefin polymer solution; (c) adding at least one nonsolvent selected from alcohol and n-alkane-based nonsolvents to the cyclic olefin polymer solution; and (d) filtering the precipitated cyclic olefin polymers.
