PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antimicrobial coating composition capable of suppressing the discoloration of its own over a long period. SOLUTION: The coating composition comprises 100 pts.wt., on a solid basis, of a binder (a) and 0.01-5 pts.wt. of an antimicrobial metal-containing antimicrobial agent (b). This coating composition also contains the bis-form (c) of a nitrogen-containing cyclic compound in the molar ratio of (1:0.1) to (1:10) based on the antimicrobial metal in the antimicrobial agent (b), wherein it is preferable that the antimicrobial agent (b) contain silver.
