PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phenolic resin composition which is suitable as a binder for forming a molded product or the like, is excellent in vibration-absorbing tendency, has high abrasion resistance and is slight in heat deterioration. SOLUTION: The phenolic resin composition comprises a novolak-type phenolic resin and a curing catalyst therefor, and a thermoplastic resin and a crosslinking agent therefor, wherein it is preferable that the thermoplastic resin is one or more kinds selected from the group consisting of a silicone rubber (VMQ), a nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR), a styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), an ethylene-propylene rubber (EPDM), an acrylic rubber (ACM) and a fluororubber (FKM).
