A control panel assembly for a washing machine is provided to connect a plurality of buttons to a button unit and to combine a button unit to the control panel assembly by using a hook releasing protrusion. A control panel assembly for a washing machine comprises a control panel having a combining plate(110), a hook releasing protrusion(114) and a button unit. The button unit has a combining unit(220) and a plurality of buttons(210). The combining unit is connected with the control panel. One end of the button is connected with the combining unit and the other end of the button is freely moving. The combining unit has a combining hole. The combining plate of the control panel is inserted to the combining hole and combined by a hook. The two combining plates are symmetrically formed. The hook releasing protrusion is extended from the combining plate to release hook fitting state.
