PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a D/A converter having fewer switches and a small occupation area as a whole, and an image display device including the D/A converter. SOLUTION: The D/A converter includes: a code conversion part 40 which converts codes of a digital signal to such array of prescribed codes that bits are changed between consecutive unit codes by one digit; a reference voltage generation part (a lower register/string 46) for generating a plurality of reference voltages; and a part (upper selector 44) having a plurality of transistors which are provided per reference voltage and control outputs of corresponding reference voltages; and gate electrodes, the plurality of gate electrodes provided for each channel of the plurality of transistors, and controlling turning-on/off of local channels respectively. The array of prescribed codes is programmed by combination of connection and non-connection between gate electrodes and control lines of the plurality of transistors. Gate electrodes for controlling turning-on/off of local channels of the plurality of transistors are omitted in bit change positions of the array. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
