PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a specimen treatment system capable of properly detecting the shape of the plug of a plugged specimen container. SOLUTION: The specimen treatment system has a specimen rack for supporting the plugged specimen container which contains a sampled specimen, a feed line for feeding the specimen rack, a pretreatment unit arranged along the feed line to perform various pretreatments, and a control part for performing the operation control of the feed line or the pretreatment unit. The pretreatment unit includes a specimen rack charge unit part, a centrifugal separation unit part, an unplugging unit part, a dispersing unit part, a plugging unit part, a classifying unit part, and a specimen-housing unit part; and this specimen treatment system has a shape detection means for detecting the shape of the plug.
