The method may include determining whether an external display apparatus is connected through a digital video output terminal, and automatically adjusting the resolution of a digital video signal outputted through the digital video output terminal if it is determined that the external apparatus is connected. The resolution may be 1080i or 1080p and the digital video output terminal may be an HDMI terminal connected (directly or indirectly) to a compatible video display apparatus.
