METHOD FOR PREPARING CHLORINATED COMPOUND FROM SATURATED HYDROCARBON

A method for preparing a chlorinated compound from a saturated hydrocarbon is provided to realize a high conversion of the saturated hydrocarbon and excellent catalytic durability, to prevent explosion, to reduce the amount of unreacted hydrogen chloride, and to avoid an additional unit for separating COx. A method for preparing a chlorinated compound from a saturated hydrocarbon comprises the steps of: oxidizing a catalyst in the presence of oxygen and hydrogen chloride; and carrying out chlorination of the saturated hydrocarbon in the presence of the oxidized catalyst. The oxidation step and the chlorination step are carried out alternately in a single reactor, or individually in separate reactors. The hydrocarbon includes methane, ethane or a mixture thereof.
