The sleeve (15) comprises overlapping layers of packaging material formed from separate packaging modules (2), the layers including protruding portions (16-19) with edge segments (4A1, 4A2, 4B1, 4B2, 6A, 6B, 10A, 10B) which define the mouth of the sleeve. A protruding portion of a first module abuts a protruding portion of a second module in a peripheral direction along the edge segments. The number of modules which are slid together to form the sleeve is equal to half or less the number of protruding portions at the sleeve mouth. Each module comprises a sheet and/or film and the number of protruding portions on each layer is 4.
