PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image heating device suppressing image defects due to sticking of foreign matter to a member in contact with a heating rotator to alter its surface state. SOLUTION: The image heating device 130 has the heating rotator 1 heating the image on the recording material S, a friction member 3 rubbing the heating rotator 1 to recover its surface properties, and a cleaning member 4 in contact with the surface of the friction member 3 to clean it. The friction member 3 has higher affinity to toner than the heating rotator 1 and the cleaning member 4 has higher affinity to toner than the friction member 3. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
