A front filter for a plasma display principally employed in a television display having black reproducibility, especially, an anti-glare function for preventing reflection effectively while achieving glossy black feeling, and a function layer for imparting a light absorbing function and/or an adhesive (viscous) function required for an image display unit. The front filter for a plasma display includes an anti-glare layer having protrusions and recesses on the top-most surface, a polyester film, and a function layer, the anti-glare layer being arranged on the observer side surface, at least one function layer being arranged on the display unit side, characterized in that the average interval Sm between protrusions (recesses) of the anti-glare layer is 60-250 µm, an average inclination angle ?a at the protrusions and recesses is 0.3-1.0°, and the ten point average roughness Rz of the protrusions and recesses is 0.3-1.0 µm.
