A fluid vectoring nozzle 10 comprises flow vectoring means suitable for selectively producing a fluid dynamic throat 28 in the nozzle (which may be a high aspect ration polygonal nozzle) in a plane that is oblique to the nozzle axis such that in operation fluid flow passing through the throat 28 is rotated about an axis in the plane of the throat. The throat may be produced by injecting a control fluid through a porous material or a perforate area comprising orifices 20, possibly in a direction with an upstream component relative to the main flow through the nozzle, and at least one vane may be provided to divide the nozzle into at least two flow-paths at the nozzle exit with fluid dynamic throats in respective flow paths being at different angles. Control fluid may be directed through a perforate region by means of translatable fluid injection means whereby the angle of the throat may be varied. Control fluid may be introduced through orifices formed in a plateau region of the nozzle which may be ridged. Alternatively, the throat may be produced by means for causing oscillation of the fluid adjacent the inside of a nozzle wall. |
