The stator has a core with multiple teeth. Multiple windings are formed round each tooth (11). Each winding has a first layer (21) of a number of coils in parallel, and a second layer (22) of multiple turns around the first layer. The last turn of the first layer joins to the first turn of the second layer. The two extremities (23,24) of the winding wire are at the base of each of the teeth.
