The invention provides for a locking device that includes at least one bracket shaped and dimensioned to be releasably attachable to a part of a container, a shank receivable through an aperture defined by a surface of the bracket, wherein the bracket is rendered releasably attachable to the part of the container when the shank is passed through the aperture; and securing means for securing the shank relative the bracket, thereby to inhibit the unauthorized removal of the shank from the bracket and bracket from the container.
