PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which enables the proper formation of a reactive liquid reactive with an ink on an intermediate transfer body in an image-recording of the intermediate transfer system based on the application of ink jet recording. SOLUTION: By using the intermediate transfer body having a pattern consisting of lyophilic and lyophobic sections on the surface thereof, the reactive liquid is uniformly applied to the intermediate transfer body to form a layer having a suitable thickness. Thereby, it is possible to form an ink image on the intermediate transfer body while preventing the miss landing of ink droplets and restricting the deformation of an ink dots. By transferring this ink image to a recording medium, it is possible to record a high-quality ink image on various kinds of recording media in a stable manner. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
