PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trackless type pipe inspection device capable of smoothly and stably running on a pipe face axially and circumferentially on the pipe. SOLUTION: This trackless type pipe inspection device comprises a vehicle body 2 to which a sensor device 1 for pipe inspection is attached, at least four wheels 3 in front/rear and right/left for moving the vehicle body 2, a magnetic field attraction mechanism 4 capable of attracting the vehicle body 2 against the pipe via the wheels 3, and a steering mechanism 5 which rotates the wheels 3 around a rotation shaft generally vertical to the ground surface for the pipe so that it can switch between a first state in which all the wheels 3 are directed in the same direction and a second state in which all the wheels 3 are in a direction generally vertical to the first state.
