PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display wherein generation of light leakage and display unevenness in the vicinity of a pixel for the so-called dummy is avoided. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display includes display pixels disposed in a matrix shape in a liquid crystal display region and non-display pixels disposed in the peripheral part on the outer side of the liquid crystal display region and covered by a light shielding film formed on the other substrate respectively on a surface on the side of a liquid crystal of one substrate of respective substrates disposed opposite to each other via the liquid crystal. The display pixel controls behavior of liquid crystal molecules by an electric field generated to be parallel to the substrate between a reference electrode and a pixel electrode provided in the display pixel, the non-display pixel is provided with respective electrodes having the same layer and the same pattern as the reference electrode and the pixel electrode of the display pixel and voltage applied to the reference electrode of the display pixel is applied to the respective electrodes.
