A communication service method and a terminal therefor are provided to perform communication through a wireless communication network if a terminal enters the wireless communication network, and to perform communication through a mobile communication network if the terminal is out of the wireless communication network, thus a user can adaptively receive communication services with one terminal under various communication environments. A wireless communication module provides wireless communication services in connection with a wireless communication network. A memory(402) stores ID information assigned to a terminal and ID information of the wireless communication module. When a communication mode is set through the wireless communication network, a controller(400) activates the wireless communication module to register terminal information in a wireless communication gateway, and receives a terminal information table from the gateway to store the table in the memory(402). If communication with another terminal is requested, the controller(400) checks whether the requested terminal exists at the terminal information table. If so, the controller(400) performs communication with the requested terminal through the wireless communication network. If the requested terminal does not exist at the table, the controller(400) performs communication with the requested terminal by accessing a PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network). |
