Use of an activated-carbon filter as an oxidation inhibitor and process for manufacturing medicaments

The invention relates to the use of an activated-carbon filter as an oxidation inhibitor for ambient air in the processing of prostane derivatives such as iloprost. The activated-carbon filter removes ozone, which is the cause of oxidation of said prostane derivatives and formation of degradation products, from the process air before contact with the prostane derivatives. Also disclosed is a process for manufacturing medicaments which contain prostane derivatives by using an activated-carbon filter for removing ozone from the process air before contact with the prostane derivatives. Said process comprises: (i) mixing of the active ingredient prostane derivative-cyclodextrin inclusion compound and the adjuvant lactose and microcrystalline cellulose, (ii) pelletizing with water, high-speed mixing, extruding and spheronizing, and eventually (iii) drying in a fluidized-bed dryer, filling and drying.
