PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of executing prescribed processings for cleaning a dustproof filter upon sensing accurately the deposited amount of dust etc. deposited on the filter and of surely precluding false alarm regarding cleaning of the filter. SOLUTION: The air conditioner, equipped with dustproof filters 11 and 12 covering an air suction hole, is structured such that the air sucked in from the suction hole and having passed through the filters 11 and 12 is sent forward upon adjustment of the air temperature, wherein the arrangement further includes a first 13 and a second photointerrupter 14 irradiating light to the filters 11 and 12 and receiving the light reflected, and a control part which decides whether dust is deposited on the filters 11 and 12, on the basis of the result from sensing made by the photointerrupters 13 and 14; and there is deposition, cleaning notifying lamps 15a and 15b are lit.
