<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light oil composition which comprises an environmentally friendly light oil base material produced using an animal/vegetable oil and fat and a triglyceride-containing hydrocarbon derived from an animal/vegetable oil, and is excellent in life cycle CO<SB>2</SB>effluence, flammability, and high temperature restart. <P>SOLUTION: The light oil composition comprises a distillate fraction having a ratio of 0.20 or more of isoparaffin versus normal paraffin at a content of 10-70% by volume, has a specific property, and has a ratio of 0.60 or higher of isoparaffin versus normal paraffin, wherein the distillate fraction is produced as follows: an animal/vegetable oil and fat and/or an animal/vegetable oil and fat-derived component is mixed with a sulfur-containing hydrocarbon compound to get a sulfur content of 1-2% by mass, brought into contact with a specific sulfide catalyst under a specific condition, and further hydrogenated with a catalyst under a specific condition to produce the distillate fraction, where the catalyst contains one or more metals selected from elements belonging to the group 6A and the group 8 in the periodic table supported on a carrier containing a crystalline molecular sieve. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
