Disclosed is a method for producing a fire protection glazing comprising at least two flat substrates and a fire protection element preferably transparent consisting of at least one film or a film system which comprises at least one intumescent layer and is disposed between said substrates. The disclosure is characterised in that several segments of the film of the fire protection element are applied to a first substrate, wherein the film segments cover the entire surface of the substrate which is provided with a fire protection element. Afterwards a second substrate is arranged on the first substrate comprising film segments and is exposed to a high pressure and high temperature binding treatment which can be carried out, for example in an autoclave.
