PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed limiting device preventing occurrence of hunting phenomenon even when controlled to suppress the travel speed of a vehicle. SOLUTION: The speed limiting device comprises a driving force generating means 5 for generating the driving force proportional to an operation variable, and a driving force limiting means 10 for limiting the driving force in order to limit the speed of one's own vehicle within a speed limit. The driving force limiting means 10 increases the limit of the driving force as the difference between the speed limit and the speed of one's own vehicle decreases. By performing such speed suppression control, the occurrence of hunting phenomenon is prevented and the speed of one's own vehicle can be suppressed below the speed limit.
