A character input device for an automatic personal computer installed on a steering wheel is provided to enable a driver to easily input characters by installing a metal dome switch panel on a steering wheel, which is lightweight and small-sized. A character input device for an automatic personal computer installed on a steering wheel(SW) comprises: a core(C) connected to a steering shaft, a rim(R), a plurality of arms(A) connecting the core with the rim, and a metal dome switch panel(SP) installed on a cover of the core. The metal dome switch panel includes a plate installed on the cover of the core, a plurality of metal domes arranged in an electrode unit on the plate, an adhesive layer covering the metal dome and a metal dome seat(14) covering the adhesive layer.
