It is an object of the invention to provide a cooking apparatus which can keep a food warm at a proper temperature without damaging the food. The interior of a heating chamber 12 is heated by heating chamber interior heating means 13 and steam is supplied into the heating chamber 12 by steam supply means 18 . At the then time, since a control part 19 , based on the temperature of the interior of the heating chamber detected by heating chamber temperature detect means 20 , controls the heating chamber interior heating means 13 and steam supply means 18 in such a manner that the interior of the heating chamber 12 provides a given temperature, a food 11 can be maintained at a heat retention temperature suitable for keeping the food warm. This can solve the problem found in the conventional cooking apparatus that the surface of the food dries and burns.
