PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce 4-nitrosodiphenylamine and 4-nitrodiphenylamine with a high selectivity from aniline and nitrobenzene. SOLUTION: The invention relates to the method in which aniline is reacted with nitrobenzene in the presence of a base and ruthenium-deposited on alumina. The ruthenium-deposited on alumina which is obtained by suspending alumina in a solution containing a trivalent ruthenium and then adding a base, is preferably used.
