PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save labor by automating the spray of an asphalt emulsion onto a step part in an asphalt pavement operation. SOLUTION: An asphalt finisher comprises an extensible arm 14 slidable in the lateral direction of a vehicle body and a hydraulic motor 19 for driving the extensible arm. A range sensor unit 15 as a step position detection means is fitted to the end of the extensible arm, and an asphalt emulsion spray nozzle 17 is fitted thereto. An automatic control means controls the hydraulic motor 19 according to the values detected by the range sensor unit to extend and retract the extensible arm. The spraying direction of the asphalt emulsion spray nozzle is always toward the step portion. Consequently, since the manual spraying of the asphalt emulsion onto the step portion is eliminated, labor is saved and the nonuniformity of the spray of the emulsion is almost eliminated, the quality of pavement can be enhanced.
