A method for managing a financial transaction card in an automatic teller machine and an automatic teller machine using the same are provided to clean and sterilize the financial transaction card before dispensing the financial transaction card after the financial transaction according to the request of a user. A card input slot(210) receives a financial transaction card from a user. A card cleaning part(220) cleans the inputted financial transaction card using a cleaning unit before the financial transaction card is dispensed, after the financial transaction using the financial transaction card. A drying/sterilizing part(230) dries and sterilizes the cleaned financial transaction card.
