<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator with high performance capable of simultaneously accomplishing reduction of manufacturing cost and reduction of influence on environment by reduction of the number of parts and simplification of assembling work. <P>SOLUTION: The gas generator 1A is provided with a lower case 10 and an upper case 20 constituting a cylindrical housing having a gas jet port 23 on a peripheral wall 22 and having both closed axial ends; an ignitor 15 mounted to the lower case 10; a gas generation agent 36 stored at the inside of the housing and ignited by the ignitor 15 to generate a gas; a cylindrical filter member 30 positioned between the gas jet port 23 and the gas generation agent 36 and having a central axis substantially extending to the same direction as an axial direction of the housing; and a pressing member 50A made of metal positioned between an upper plate 21 of the upper case and the gas generation agent 36, abutted on an inner peripheral surface 30a of the filter member 30 and elastically urging the gas generation agent 36 toward a direction leaving it from the upper plate 21 of the upper case 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
