PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation control device of an occupant crash protector capable of adequately determining an operating mode of the occupant crash protector by adequately eliminating the result of detection of an occupant state in a stage before a collision while continuously detecting the state of the occupant. SOLUTION: The operation control device of the occupant crash protector has occupant state detection means (30, 32) for continuously detecting an occupant state, and changes the operational mode of occupant crash protectors (42, 44) in which the operation is scheduled when detecting a collision based on the result of detection of the occupant state by the occupant state detection means. The operation control device of the occupant crash protector has a means for detecting a pre-collision stage immediately before a vehicle is collided with an obstacle, and determines the operational mode of the occupant crash protector based on the result of detection of the occupant state before that at the detection if the pre-collision stage is detected.
