<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To configure a drive means so that cost and size reductions are achieved and assembly and maintenance are improved, and to drive a plurality of paper conveying sections and image forming sections at appropriate efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 includes: a paper cassette 3, which is a first paper feed section; a manual paper feeder 5, which is a second paper feed section; the first paper conveying section 4, which conveys paper P in the paper cassette 3; the second paper conveying section 6, which conveys paper P in the manual paper feeder 5; and the plurality of image forming sections 20 for forming toner images of different colors. The apparatus 1 also includes: a first drive means 101, which drives the first paper conveying section 4; and a second drive means 102, which drives the second paper conveying section 6. The drive means for each image forming section 20 is divided into the first drive means 101 and second drive means 102.
