PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication apparatus and a radio communication method to set a proper radio base station and a receiving space of a paging channel in the case of moving at a constant speed along an automobile road such as an expressway or the like. SOLUTION: A mobile telephone terminal to move along an automobile toll road 10 together with a vehicle V1 sets the receiving space of the paging channel PCH to an automobile road receiving space which is different from as usual based on a present position of the mobile telephone terminal, an area-base station correspondence map and a moving speed of the mobile telephone terminal.
